Towards Achieving Generative HSE Culture: MHB Promotes Individual and Team Excellence
23 March 2023Strengthening Ties with DoE Johor in Enhancing Environmental Compliance
MHB received a courtesy visit from the Director of Department of Environment (DoE) Johor, Dr. Mohd Famey Yusoff, together with his delegates from DoE Johor and Pasir Gudang District earlier this month at MMHE West yard. As MHB aims to fully comply to the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and its regulations, the visit was an effort to share and show the nature of business operation in MHB that contributed to the huge amount of scheduled waste generation.
Their visit then continued with a yard tour at Centralised Scheduled Waste Storage (CSWS) and Mega Workshop area. The delegates were briefed on the management of scheduled wastes at CSWS and Work-In-Progress area at Mega Workshop. The visit proceeded to the rooftop of MMHE Recreational Facilities where the delegates were briefed by GM, Facilities and Asset Services (FAS), Encik Syed Shaharum Syed Dabal on the yard facilities and operations in general.
Collectively, the visit was a valuable learning experience for DoE Delegates as they were able to gain a first-hand understanding of the challenges and complexities in running an environmentally responsible operation, while MHB team was able to identify areas for improvement and make changes to further reduce our environmental impact.
This visit also highlighted on the importance of Environmental Mainstreaming Tools (EMT) in fostering the Guided Self-Regulation in industrial activities and how MHB has put so much effort in embracing the EMT through self-regulation.
Both parties will have further cooperation in future for the successful of environmental compliances in MHB.
