More than 4 decades since its establishment, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (MHB) has built a good rapport with the local community in Pasir Gudang, Johor through the longstanding outreach programmes.
Through a different avenue, MHB has organised the first-time-ever MHB Free Market on 19 April 2019 at Surau Al-Amilin, MMHE Flat, Pasir Gudang, Johor. This was MHB’s Corporate Social Initiative (CSI) programme collaborating with Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita & Kebajikan Masyarakat (KPWKM).
About 111 underprivileged families across Pasir Gudang were invited to this programme where they were able to choose necessity items such as clothes, kitchenware, bags, books and many more without having to pay for the items. The Free Market was aimed to help the families in easing their burden especially with the upcoming months of Ramadan and Syawal.
MHB received support from more than 2,000 staff who contributed towards the programme, from donating their new or preloved items to volunteering for the preparation of the programme and on the event day itself.
YB Miss Liow Cai Tung, Chairman of Johor Women and Tourism Development, En Mohd Ali Taib, Director of the Johor Women Development Department, MHB Management Committee, members of the media in Johor and several Ketua Kampung were present at the event.
