With the involvement and participation of 190 students from three local schools in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia, MHB Art of Science, which started in 2013, aspires to stimulate youth interest in the science and technology disciplines by using the marine and oil & gas projects as examples.
On 15 November 2018, its fifth instalment under the MHB’s Corporate Social Investment’s (CSI) initiative programme has been successfully organised at our yard, MMHE West Pasir Gudang. For this edition of ‘MHB Art of Science’, our young engineers came forward to prepare, conduct and facilitate the module of programme and the projects executions.
The students were placed in groups and each group was challenged to construct either a jacket structure or a floating structure. Each group presented their project to the panel of judges comprised of MHB leaders. The participants were privileged to have had the opportunity to gain new insights on the Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning and Construction which are related to MHB’s core business activities.
It is MHB’s hope that ‘Art of Science’ will spark student interest to experiment and discover more. In the longer term, such interest will go on to inspire and nurture future scientists, entrepreneurs and thought leaders
